How It Works – Our Silicone Overmolding

Overmolding is a two-material molding process to mold silicone or LSR over top of another substrate.The substrate could be made from various materials such as silicone,plastic,metal ,fabric,FPC,magnet etc .Overmolding is a two-step process.First,the base substrate is molded.Then the silicone or LSR is molded directly over of the first substrate to create a single  integrated part.In a simple conclusion,overmolding bonds a soft, elastic silicone layer onto a rigid part via chemical adhesion during high-temperature curing.

STEP 01 Material and Tool Preparation
Prepare base substrate (plastic,metal ,FPC,magnet etc) ,Silicone or LSR material ,relevant primer and overmolding tool
STEP 02 Surface pre-treatment
Make plasma treatment or primer coating for the substrate if necessary
STEP 03 Substrate loading
Set substrate into the mold cavity
STEP 04 Silicone Molding
Close the mold by applying clamping force and start molding or injection molding .
STEP 05 Product Demolding
Open the tool and demold the overmolding parts
STEP 06 Post-processing and inspection
Post-curing or other surface treatment if necessary and inspection before package .
